Having a baby is one of the greatest joys in our lives, but once you find out you are pregnant, comes the challenges and fun of making sure that you are well prepared and offer your baby all the comforts that he or she will need in order to grow up to be happy and healthy.
Having the right environment and the right "tools" to welcome baby are extremely important. But, where to start, it can get a little overwhelming, especially if you are expecting or know someone who is expecting their very first child. A warm, welcoming and serene room is vital. There are many decor choices to make and really, this will depend highly on your own personal tastes and what you feel would best suit your baby. Of course, if you know the sex of the baby, this will go a long way in determining your baby's room decor, however, there are beautiful accessories such as baby bedding, and picture frames, nursery shelves and wall decor that is quite suitable for a baby of either sex. Are you partial to a specific color? Do you want to give the room a more calming and serene look? Are you looking to create a "theme" room? Or perhaps you have always been a fan of Pooh or another character, or maybe you are partial to animals and animal prints?
You can really pick and choose to your heart's content when it comes to decorating and furnishing a nursery. Functionality is also a key component in building the perfect baby room. Make sure that you purchase some sturdy and practical storage bins. These will come in handy as your baby grows and you find yourself with a variety of clothing of different sizes (perhaps to be kept for another child?). Fortunately, bins can now be found in many different colors, in various sizes to suit any type of nursery.
Although there are many accessories available for the nursery, a few key accessories should not be forgotten for when you and baby go out visiting friends, family or even the family pediatrician. Once you have purchased a safe and comfy car seat, why not add some style to it by covering it with a great little car seat cover? These are fun and practical (you don't have to keep cleaning that car seat all the time).
Another must have is the diaper bag. Gone are the days when the diaper bag looked like a boring, stiff looking bag. Now, you can choose from all types of styles and prints that go with your mood and still offer practicality.
Choosing baby accessories can be a lot of fun if you know where to look.
